Getting Here

By Air → Drake Bay

Recommended for Green Season — December – May

  • 50-minute domestic flight from SJO → Drake Bay

  • 45-minute jeep ride to San Josecito schoolhouse

  • 20-minute beach walk north (800 m) to lodge

By Land & River → Sierpe 

Recommended for Green Season — June – November

  • ~5 h land transfer (shuttle) from San José → Sierpe 

  • 1.5 h boat ride from Sierpe dock → San Josecito Beach 

  • ~15-minute beach walk (or southward) to lodge

Note: boat drop-offs are beach drops — expect wet foot exit. Wear water sandals / pack accordingly.

Departure Day

You can return via the same route you arrived, or mix routes depending on flight schedules.

 

Via Drake Bay (fastest to connect to international flights)

  • Early breakfast → 20-minute beach walk south to schoolhouse

  • Taxi 45 min to Drake Bay airport

  • Domestic flight to SJO

  • Allow 3 hours between domestic arrival and international departure

 

Via Sierpe River route

  • Early walk north to beach → boat ride 1.5 h to Sierpe

  • From Sierpe you can:

    • Join a land shuttle to San José

    • Or take taxi to Palmar Sur for a local flight to SJO

  • Total land + transit time ~5.5+ hours
